If Betony is Bo’s oldest friend, Estes is Quinton’s. Though she has little to do with him in a political-chain-of-command sense, she has been living with Quinton and his family since she was eight years old, when she was sent over as part of an ambassador exchange program of sorts - she’s there to learn their culture and politics inside and out in order to become a seamless ambassador between her country and the Bells’, while the opposite is happening in her country’s capital. She pretends not to have complicated emotions about her role being chosen for her, but she would be foolish to ignore the benefits. While she’s perfectly competent politically, her true passion lies in the more hands-on sphere of combat and knighthood. She trains almost as much as the castle’s actual soldiers, and her skill is undeniable even if it is just a hobby.
